The job-site system for union specialty-trade subcontractors.

The estimate, the contract, the crew’s hours, certified payroll and the GC’s pay application — all in one place, so the same numbers don’t get typed in three times.

  • Framing & drywall
  • Plaster
  • EIFS
  • Ceilings
  • Fireproofing

The paperwork it produces

  • Pay applications

G702/G703-style, off the schedule of values

  • Certified payroll

WH-347, from hours the crew already logged

  • Fringe remittance

One sheet per local, for the month

  • Change orders

Numbered; the sum moves only on approval

  • RFIs

Numbered, dated; overdue is never stored

  • Submittals

    Every revision kept, none renumbered

  • Daily field reports

Crew from the day's hours, weather fetched

  • T&M tickets

Signed on site, frozen at signing

An example of Ask C Stream, on made-up jobs and names. Someone types: Raise an RFI on Northgate Clinic TI — which head-of-wall detail at the rated corridor? A card headed Raise an RFI shows Job, Subject, Question, Date sent, with Cancel and Open the RFI form buttons. After a tap on Open the RFI form, the RFI form opens with those fields filled in. A tap on Save RFI saves it as RFI 4, a draft. Then someone types: Log 8 hours for Luis Ortega on Northgate today A card headed Log hours shows Job, Person, Date, Hours, Pay type, with Cancel and Log hours buttons. Nothing is written until the tap on Log hours. After the tap the card reads Done: Logged 8 hours for Luis Ortega on Northgate Clinic TI, 2026-09-21.

Example. Your jobs, your crew. Nothing is saved until you tap.
  • RFI, submittal and change order numbers only count up — a deleted one is never reissued
  • Certified payroll is built from the hours your crew already logged, not typed in again
  • Apprentice ratios are judged day by day, never averaged over the month
  • A WH-347 with something missing says it is not ready to file, and names the field
  • A pay app line cannot be billed past its scheduled value — it tells you what to do instead
  • Overdue is worked out from the dates every time it is shown, never stored
  • A sent RFI can be closed but never deleted — the GC holds a copy too
  • Money is kept to the exact cent, never as rounded floating point
  • Hours logged on the phone with no signal wait in an outbox and send when there is signal
  • Once the foreman signs the day, its hours are locked until the office reopens it
  • Calling a punch item fixed and verifying it fixed are two different permissions
  • Site photos keep when they were taken and who took them, apart from when they were uploaded
  • The assistant can propose a change, but only you can confirm it — and the browser cannot alter what runs
  • Retainage already withheld on a pay app is never rewritten when the rate changes

The old way, and the C Stream way

The old way

  • The estimate lives in one file, the contract in another, and the job cost gets rebuilt from scratch
  • Certified payroll is assembled by hand from timesheets, one WH-347 at a time
  • A pay application means retyping the schedule of values into the GC's own AIA forms
  • Retainage is tracked in a spreadsheet somebody has to remember to update
  • RFIs and submittals live in an email thread until somebody loses track of one

The C Stream way

  • One estimate becomes the contract, the budget and the job cost — entered once
  • Certified payroll generates from the hours your crew already logged
  • AIA-style pay applications build straight from your schedule of values
  • Retainage withheld and released per job, calculated from the job itself
  • RFIs and submittals are numbered, dated and never reissued

Getting paid

The pay application is the document that decides whether you make payroll this month, and on most jobs it is built by retyping your own schedule of values into the GC's forms. Here it builds itself out of the job.

  • A G702/G703-style summary and continuation sheet, off the schedule of values already on the job
  • Retainage held and released per job, calculated from the job rather than remembered in a spreadsheet
  • It refuses to bill a line past its scheduled value, and says what to do instead — an approved change order, or stored materials now installed

Certified payroll, from hours already logged

Every week, for every worker, on every prevailing-wage job — name, classification, hours by day, rate, fringe. It is assembled from timesheets by hand almost everywhere, and a wrong one is not a clerical problem.

  • A real WH-347 sheet: seven dated day columns, straight time and overtime on their own rows
  • Fringe rates by craft and effective date — pension, vacation, health & welfare, training
  • If something is missing it tells you it is not ready to file, and names the field — rather than printing a form that is wrong

Apprentice ratios, on the day you go over

The ratio is enforced per day, so a compliant month does not undo a Tuesday you ran two apprentices to one journeyman. Most systems can only show you an average, which is the one shape of number that hides it.

  • Per job, per local, per day, measured in hours — off the hours the crew already logged
  • Your local's own rule (1 per 3, 1 per 5) recorded per local, with where it is written down
  • Hours with no craft tag are reported as can't-be-judged, never quietly counted as journeyman

  • 2026-08-25 over ratio · 16 jrny / 8 appr (allows 5.33)
  • 2026-08-26 within ratio · 32 jrny / 8 appr (allows 10.67)
  • 2026-08-27 can't be judged · 24 jrny / 8 appr (allows 8) · 8 hrs unclassified: T. Nguyen
  • 2026-08-28 within ratio · 24 jrny / 8 appr (allows 8)

Tuesday is flagged on Tuesday. Averaged over the week this crew is inside the ratio, which is how a violation goes unnoticed until someone else finds it. The phone’s time screen runs the same check for today and warns while the crew can still change.

Checked per job, per local, per day, from the hours actually logged — nothing here is stored. Figures are illustrative; labels and arithmetic are C Stream’s own.

Whether the job is actually making money

Most subs find out a job went wrong when it is finished. Because the estimate, the hours and the costs are the same object here, the answer is available while there is still something you can do about it.

  • Budget, current estimate, actual and earned revenue per line item — not one number for the whole job
  • Labour costed from the hours logged against the line — base wage plus fringes, plus the employer burden percentage you record
  • When some hours are unpriced it says so on the figure, instead of quietly reporting a number it cannot stand behind

Tell it what happened. Approve it with one tap.

Ask C Stream sits in the top bar of every page. Say it in your own words — an RFI to raise, a crew member’s hours, a delivery that came in — and it shows you the exact record it is about to write, with the job, the names and the figures it read from your account. Nothing is saved until you tap.

What you can ask it to do

Billing
draft an invoice, log a payment, release retainage.
Field
log hours, today's field report, punch items, schedule or move the crew, a delivery, equipment out to a job and back.
The GC
raise an RFI, send an email, ask whoever would know, add a contact.
Estimating
start an estimate, draft line items, add a catalog line, log a bid invitation, record why a bid was won or lost, track a pursuit, find work out to bid.

It shows you what it's about to do. You tap once to approve.

Protecting yourself when it goes wrong

Every job that ends in an argument ends in an argument about what was asked, when it was asked, and who answered. That record is worth more than anything else on this page — and it is only worth anything if it was kept as it happened, rather than reconstructed afterwards by the side with the most to lose.

Example. Your submittals, your revisions. Approved is worked out from what came back, never stored.

Numbered, never reissued

RFIs, submittals and change orders take their number from a counter that only counts up. Delete a row and the number does not come back around — which is the whole point on a document a GC has already been sent.

Nothing stored that can go stale

Overdue, days open and which revision is current are worked out from the dates every time they are shown. A stored flag can disagree with the thing it was derived from, and that disagreement is how somebody builds from a superseded drawing.

Kept as it happened

Daily field reports, site photos and punch lists, dated and attributable, entered from the deck of the building on a phone with no signal — queued and sent when there is signal again.

Everything else it does

The rest of the job, in the same system, so none of it needs a second spreadsheet.

Fringe remittance to the funds

Pension, vacation, health & welfare and training, worked out from the same logged hours the certified payroll comes from.

Change orders that move the contract

Numbered from a counter that only counts up, and the line they raise moves with them — so the schedule of values stays the contract.

Your own cost codes, across every job

Phase codes you define, with budget against actual rolled up across all the jobs carrying them — not one job at a time.

Cash flow and what is still owed

What each GC owes and how long it has been owed, retainage receivable, and a month-by-month projection built only from dates already on file.

Lien deadlines, kept in front of you

Preliminary notices, liens, stop payment notices and bond claims. You enter the dates — it sorts them and warns you 14 days out.

Backcharges, on the record

What another trade or the GC is charging you for, numbered and dated, so it is answered rather than discovered in a final accounting.

Safety incidents and OSHA case numbers

Case numbers issued from a counter that never reissues a retired one, because a retired OSHA case number coming back is its own problem.

A phone that works with no signal

Hours, photos, field reports, materials and punch lists from the deck of a building with no bars — queued and sent when there is signal again.

Not generic construction software

The classifications, the fringe rate schedules and the compliance paperwork are built around union framing and drywall, plaster, EIFS, ceiling and fireproofing work — not bolted on after the fact for a general contractor’s app that happened to add a trade field.

C Stream is new

This is not an established platform with years of customers behind it — it is a new system, built directly with subs in these trades. You will find rough edges, and what you run into gets fixed fast rather than filed away.

That is also why this page shows no customer logos, no count of how many subs are using it, and no quoted endorsements. There is nothing here we could not show you in the product itself.

See it on your own job

Put a real job in it — the estimate, a week of hours, one pay application — and see whether the numbers come out where you expect.
